Match preview

Jose Mourinho does not believe that Chelsea's away form is a cause for concern ahead of their trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea have dropped points on five occasions this season in the Barclays Premier League and are three points clear of Manchester City in second ahead of their trip to White Hart Lane. However, Chelsea’s four draws and only defeat have all come on the road, with Sunday's 1-1 draw with Southampton representing the most recent setback.

Man City were unable to capitalise on that result as they threw away a two-goal lead to draw at home to Burnley but when it was put to him that Chelsea's away form could lead to them being caught by City during 2015, Mourinho stated his team were simply going through a tricky run of matches.

"We had very difficult fixtures away from home,” Mourinho said. “We lost one game [against Newcastle United] that we didn't deserve to lose.

"We are doing well. Every match is difficult. When we go to Tottenham it's difficult, when we go to Swansea it's difficult, when we go to QPR it's difficult, I don't think there are easy matches.

"At the end of the season there are 19 matches at home and 19 matches away. Of course it's more difficult now, we have a difficult period, other teams have an easier one. But if it's a draw [that decides the fixture list] it's a draw, you cannot complain with a draw."

Chelsea boast an impressive home record against Spurs in the Barclays Premier League, beating them 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on 3 December, but drew at White Hart Lane last season and required John Terry's second-half goal to snatch a point. Like Mourinho, Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino has a full squad to choose from, with Nabil Bentaleb set to return from illness for a side who have found form of late.

Unbeaten in the league since the 3-0 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Spurs have taken 11 points from their last five outings and held Manchester United to a goalless draw on Sunday. Pochettino wants Spurs to take the belief from their recent form into the London derby and kick off 2015 with victory.

"We need to believe like [we did against Manchester United] and try to play our game, we need to keep this feeling and try show the same performance," he told the club's website. "We are in the process that we start to believe more, this is important and [sunday] was a good example of that belief.

"Every game is different and we need to believe. It's a tough game against first in the table but why not?"

PREDICTED LINEUPS:

Tottenhams Mauricio Pochettino welcomes back Nabil Bentaleb ahead of the visit of Chelsea after the midfielder missed Sunday's 0-0 stalemate with United through illness: he could return for Benjamin Stambouli in the centre of the park. Elsewhere, the rested Kyle Walker will be expected to replace Vlad Chiriches at right-back, while Danny Rose will again challenge Ben Davies for the left-back berth. Further forward, Erik Lamela will also be pushing for inclusion having found himself on the bench against United - Andros Townsend seems most likely to make way. Roberto Soldado will also be pushing for selection but is unlikely to replace the in-form Harry Kane up front, with Pochettino likely to allow Kane to lead the attack in front of an attacking midfield three of Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli.

Chelsea make the trip to London rivals Spurs having been held at St Mary's last time out. Once again, Jose Mourinho will likely keep changes to a minimum, although both Willian and César Azpilicueta are set to earn recalls having found themselves left out of the starting lineup against the Saints. Andre Schurrle will likely drop to the bench along with Filipe Luis, as Mourinho restores his first-choice back four. Oscar could also be back in the frame having missed the south coast stalemate through injury. His return will likely see Cesc Fabregas drop back alongside Nemanja Matic with Mikel making way.

Herlig med en gjennomført kamptråd. Bra jobbet!
