Rønningen folkehøgskole
I am a foreign student who joined Rønningen folkehøgskole year 2013/2014. A few days after joining i heard from other students that the school was going to move to Montenegro in eastern europe for 6 weeks cause they were planning to build a New hostel inplace of the old one and do some extention work on the main schoolbuilding. This was shocking for me to find out as I wanted to attend school in Oslo and was planning on taking higher exams in norwegian. Fortunately for us, the town counsil didnt grant them permission to start their extention project this year but the school was still moved to Montenegro, though for a 3week period instead of 6.
The principal is expecting that their project will start next school year. But the school doesnt inform about these plans in public. You wont find any information about this on their website. This means that if you are one of the applicants for 2014/2015 be prepared that you will have to spend a minimum of 6 weeks in a hotel in a small but beautiful village in Montenegro. If you have strong reasons for not participating, you can apply for a leave and might be granted this. Hopefully they will arrange for a different place for you to stay.
I think its really bad that they hide this important information from their applicants, especially with regards to students who come from abroad. If i were you i would talk to these people regarding practicalities before joining or consider another School.
