There has always been a certain segment of the population that chooses to be quick to offend. Many people believe that they cannot help feeling offended, but people like Viktor Frankl say otherwise and bring a mountain of evidence and personal experience with them to prove it. I believe people choose to be offended, either because they felt like someone was being mean to them, or because they know that achieving the status of “victim” is the fastest way to gain political power over another person. Want to control a politician? Say he offended you. Want to control your coworkers? Be offended by them. The only problem with that is that the PC movement has done an excellent job of teaching us all that certain classes of people deserve to be offended, and others are instant victims just waiting for someone to pour water nearby.
